Synopsis: "For Fear of Kofi" investigates the circumstances of one police shooting that took place on March 2, 2010, on University of Florida campus. University Police responded to a 911 call from graduate housing: a student called because she was concerned about her neighbor Kofi, a fellow Ph. D student from Ghana. He was having a mental breakdown and was, allegedly, yelling in his apartment. 90 minutes later, police forced their way into his apartment and shot him repeatedly. The University tried to seal the case with non-disclosure agreements, however, not everyone agreed to remain silent. The story is told by its participants and opens a Pandora’s box full of issues, making you think about how this shooting could have been avoided. Should a reasonable police officer be so scared that the use of deadly force was necessary? Look at one case in depth and decide for yourself.
